A. Introduction
•Bushehr province lies in a vast plain running along the coastal region on the Persian Gulf coast of southwestern Iran in 28.9184°N 50.8382°E geographical coordination. On the northern frontier, Bushehr shares border with Khuzestan and Kuhgiluye-va-Buyer Ahmad and, on the south it neighbors Hormozagan province and the Persian Gulf, on the east it shares borders with Fars province and the west side of the province is the coastline with the Persian Gulf. The province enjoys 707 kilometers of coastline onto the Persian Gulf. Bushehr has been one the cradles of civilization and as historical documents suggest; it has a history of five thousand years.
  • •Bushehr’s coastline is 707 kilometers which is half of the northern coastline from Bandar Abbas to Fav.
  • •The province has 9 counties; Bushehr, Tangestan, Dashtestan, Dashti, Kangan, Dayyer, Deylam, Genaveh and Jam, and also 22 Districts, 43 villages and 31 towns.
  • •Young population (15-24) rate in this province is 26/4 percent which puts Bushehr in the fifth place in the country.
  • •With 86/4 percent of the population being literate Bushehr stands in the sixth place in the countrywide ranking from the literacy rate point of view. The Human Development Index of the province is 0/826 which puts Bushehr in the fifth place in the country.

B. Oil and Gas
  • Due to the depositing of the sea water in previous eras in this area, the existence organic matters, tectonic movements of the earth, of the entire area of The Persian Gulf and the plains of Bushehr are now laying over and area of huge energy reserve.
  • The latest estimates on the amount of known energy sources of the country in the year 1386 measured this reserve to be 140 billion barrels. The ultimate reserve of the oil fields of the province is estimated to be 55 billion barrels which accounts for approximately 40 percent of the overall reserves in the country. It should be noted that according to the energy balance report of the year 1384, the extractable liquid carbohydrate reserves of the country was 136.99 billion barrels (73.1 percent crude oil and 26.9 percent gas condensates). The accumulative production of crude oil and gas condensates up until the end of the year 1384 has been 60.03 and 6.38 billion barrels respectively. The proven crude oil reserves of the world in 2005 was estimated to be 1200.7 billion barrels, and considering the 137 billion barrels possessed by Iran, gives the country 11.4 percent of the overall world resources. The daily oil production of Iran is about 4 million barrels which accounts for 5.1 percent of the world production.
  • The oil fields of the province are divided into two fields, the continental shelf and onshore resources. Two oil terrains (Kharg and Bahregan) out of four are located off shore. Bahregan terrain includes Hendijan, Bahregansar, Nowruz and Soroush oil fields and oil fields of Forouzan, Abouzar, Doroud and Esfandiar are located in Kharg area. South Pars Oil Field and Ferdowsi Oil Field are also located in the territorial waters of Bushehr. The onshore oil fields or the province are Bushehr and Kharg which are located in Bushehr county, Nargesi and Boushkan which are in Dashtestan county and Kouh Kaki and Kouh Mond that are located in the county of Dashti.

  • • Gas and Gas Fields
  • The total extractable natural gas reserves of the country at the end of the year 1384 was 28.17 trillion cubic meters of which 32.8 percent is onshore and 67.2 percent is in the offshore fields. Until the end of the year 1384, 24.9 percent of the onshore reserves had been extracted and for the offshore reserves this amount is 1.4 percent. The total natural gas reserve of the world is estimated to be 179.83 cubic meters of which 15.6 percent is in Iran.
  • Over 60 percent of the natural gas reserves of the country is found in Bushehr Province. in the year 1384 an amount of 106.3 billion cubic meters of natural gas were extracted in the country of which South Pars Field produced 38 percent and Kangan Gas Field produced 31.5 percent. Of the chief gas fields of the country, South Pars (Kangan county), Nar and Kangan (Jam county) and North Pars (Dayyer county) are located in Bushehr. Hereunder there is a list of the gas fields.

G. Commerce
Bushehr province, due to its long common border with the Persian Gulf and its active ports and customs, has a bright future and a great potential for thriving in commerce and becoming one of the trade hubs of the Persian Gulf region. The commerce sector of the province is divided into two branches of domestic and foreign trade. On the domestic side, the overall storage capacity of the warehouses in the province is 189482 tons, a bulk of which is reserved for private warehousing. 168643 tons of this capacity is concentrated in Bushehr which is 89 percent of the total capacity of the entire province. The capacity of the province’s fridges is 8227 tons. The loading and unloading capacity of the province’s ports in the year 90 has been more than 9 million tons. There is one silo in the province with a capacity of 8 thousand tons.
